BHARATHEEYA VICHARA KENDRAM
We are living in a fast-changing world. The tide of globalization is sweeping across the continents, upsetting and uprooting longstanding cultures and traditions, values and attitudes and forcing radical changes whose consequences are unpredictable.Countries like India whose cultural vitality has withstood the shocks of untold foreign invasions and alien cultural onslaughts are now facing serious problems of survival.
Cultural diversity, varied lifestyles,bio-diversity and dignity of individuals and groups are under threat by the onrush of a consumeristic and materialistic civilization, which has no foundation of a wholesome philosophy, or integral vision of life. For the sake of humanity’s future well being, this threat has to be squarely faced at all levels. Bharatheeya Vichara Kendram has been visualized as an intellectual forum which can take up such challenges effectively, through in-depth studies, research and propagation of ideas among the elite and the common masses. It was founded in the year 1982 and has at present, thirty functioning units in academically important centre of Kerala.it is dedicated to the cause of formulating and disseminating thoughts and ideas having a positive bearing on nation-building activities.
Vichara Kendram addresses itself to a detailed study of the multi-dimensional achievements of India with a view to substantiat their validity in the present context. Leaders of our freedom movement also were animated by the spirit of dedication to translate this national vision into day- to-day experience in all fields of activities and build up free India on the unshakable foundation of her integral culture. Our triumphs have not matched our expectation, they do not even compare favourably with that of some countries that won their freedom along with us. What causes concern is our failure in the spiritual and cultural fronts which form the inner core of our national life spring. There has been a weakening of our faith and a slackening of our will to be truly ourselves and proudly own our heritage. Doubts and skepticism nag us. The result is that the country has been under overwhelming pressures from external and internal forces, which render our very freedom vulnerable.
Kerala with its own unique characteristics has been no exception to this. Kerala’s contribution to the rest of India is a matter of pride for the people of the state. It has set shining examples in certain select fields, but the achievements could not be sustained for long. Today multifaceted challenges are confronting it, creativity has been stunted and dark shadows are hovering over the horizon, with the result that in every field of activity, negative trends are becoming predominant and pronounced. Not only are these trends not arrested but they are also developing at a frightening rate. It is also well- known that Marxists have always attempted to hijack and control all social, cultural and philosophical activities in this country especially in Kerala. Bharatheeya Vichara Kendra right from the day of its inception in the year 1982 has been waging a relentless battle to preserve and nurture the cultural ethos of Bharath. The two-day seminar held in 1994 on the “Changing Faces of Kerala” organized by the Vichara Kendram led to a very fruitful analysis of the changes in the educational, political and economical spheres of the state.
Bharatheeya Vichra Kendram is of the firm conviction that the that the task of building a great future cannot be achieved unless we derive our strength from our own rots. To make this possible, dedicated intellectuals must explore the potentialities lying hidden in our history, culturephilosophy, economy, polity etc.No doubt, modern tools will have to be employed for this. Without a deep study of Sanskrit, no worthwhile exploration of our past or enrichment of our future is possible. Similarly, interdisplinary approach is also a must to arrive at, to understand and to apply effective remedies for the complex problems. Vichara kendram is a future-oriented academic institution engaged in the task of channelising our inherent strength for the sake of building up a better and brighter tomorrow.
The origin
The Bharatheeya Vichara Kendra was established in 1982,as a centre of research and studies aimed at national re-construction. It is headquartered at Thiruvananthapuram and has 30 actively functioning units in academically important centre of kerala.
It has been inaugurated by the great national thinks and the founder of Mazdoor sangh, Sri .D.B Thengadi, on the vijayadhashmi Day of 1982,at Thiruvannthapuram, Mananeeya P.Parameswaran, writer, thinker, ideologues and one of the first batch of RSS pracharaks, its founder-director.
The Bharatheeya vichara Kendra has been registered under the travancore-cochin literary, scientific and charitable societies Act, on 13th November 1991(Reg.No 905/91.Tvm). The memorandum of association was figured by the following seven memberes. They are- Sri. P.Parameswaran, Sri T.R Somasekharan, Dr.M.R Gopalakrishnan Nair, Dr.M Sambasivan, Prof.N.Gopikuttan Pilla, Dr.k.Jayaprasad and Dr.S Kannan For the last two and half decades. The VicharaKendra achieved tremendous influence in the intellectual area of kerala. It has taken the responsibility to create a constituency to the nationalistic thought in kerala, where anti-national politics dominate the scene. The Vichara Kendra started as a national organization but focused its area of activities in kerala. Because kerala has a different environment and social and political culture. It was the home of great social reformers. But the social reformation was hijacked and thus the anti-national sentiments got acceptance and popularity in the state. Hence, since 1982,the Vichara Kendram has been waging a consistent battle on the intellectual plane against the anti-national campaign initiated by the leftists* and other command forces.
